Job description

Overview

The Neurodiagnostic Technologist II has passed the examination and obtained the credential appropriate to the modality of practice, which may include EEG/Electroencephalography (R. EEG. T.), EP/Evoke Potentials (R. EP. T.), or NCS/Nerve Conduction Studies (R. NCS. T.). The Technologist performs procedures according to ASET standards, hospital policies, and procedures. They provide findings, results, and descriptive analysis based on the modality of practice and ensure patient safety during clinically significant events. Performs other related duties as assigned. Excellent communication skills are essential for this position.

Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  1. Perform EEG or NCS testing with responsibility and accountability, ensuring timely and accurate procedures.
  2. Prepare patients for testing by attaching monitoring devices and explaining procedures clearly.
  3. Record observations, ensure data is collected and documented properly in acquisition systems and EPIC. Clip EEG acquisitions according to manufacturer standards and provider preferences. Assist with EMG and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) as needed.
  4. Maintain and clean lab equipment; ensure the testing room is clean following hospital and manufacturer recommendations.
  5. Manage daily office and clerical tasks, including supplies, charges, and repairs; complete requisitions as necessary.
  6. Perform daily and monthly quality checks, assist with training, and collaborate with the team to improve outcomes.
  7. Ensure all equipment is maintained in clean and operational condition; report repairs to Biomedical Engineering and the manager per policies.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Provide services appropriate to patients of all ages served by the Neurodiagnostic department, demonstrating excellent communication skills.
  • Assess and interpret patient data to identify age-specific needs and provide appropriate services. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of equipment and accurate lead placement techniques.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Associate's Degree or higher in Allied Health is preferred.
  • Accredited Neurodiagnostic Program is required.
  • 1.5 years of experience in the health/medical field is preferred.
Certifications and Licenses
  • BLS certification required.
  • Certification in EEG (R. EEG. T.), EP (R. EP. T.), or NCS (R. NCS. T.) as applicable.
