Job summary

MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center is offering a Winter Student Nurse Extern Program for RN students graduating in 2027. The extern will work on the Stroke & Neurology Telemetry Unit, gaining hands-on experience under an experienced RN mentor and care team.

Shifts are 12 hours, full-time for about five weeks starting mid-December 2026, with no time off during the cohort. Afterward, per diem employment is available through graduation. BLS certification is required by time of hire.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in an accredited RN program; graduation in May/Aug/Dec 2027.
• Official transcripts required at hire and each semester to verify enrollment.
• No license required; BLS/CPR for Healthcare Providers required by time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Gain hands-on experience caring for neurological patients under RN mentor.
• Receive one-on-one mentorship and bi-weekly educational sessions.
• Work 12-hour shifts during a five-week Winter Cohort.
• Per diem option after program through graduation.
