A leading medical institution in Champaign-Urbana seeks a Board Eligible/Board Certified Neuro-oncologist to join a collaborative team. The role includes a mix of clinical duties and research opportunities, with a focus on advanced imaging and treatment for brain tumors. Seeking a BE/BC Neuro-oncologist to join our team in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, with an academic appointment at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (U of I) and the Illinois College of Medicine.
Academic Appointment: Tenure or Academic Research Track, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The neuro-oncologist will primarily practice at the Urbana main campus, with 80% clinical duties at the Cancer Institute/Hospital and 20% research at U of I, with protected research time based on interest and experience. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduates, medical students, residents, fellows, graduate students, and post-doctoral candidates.
Clinical Team: Collaborate with a team of 6 neurosurgeons, 7 hematology/oncology physicians, 4 radiation oncologists, and several APPs. Work closely with two physician mentors—one in hematology/oncology and one in neurosurgery.
Responsibilities: Evaluate patients, prescribe chemotherapy and biological therapies for primary brain tumors, assist with management of patients receiving intrathecal chemotherapy, and participate in a multidisciplinary setting with access to Infusion Rooms. Join our future multi-disciplinary neuro-oncology clinic with clinical collaboration and backup coverage from hematology/oncology physicians.
Research Opportunities: Engage in advanced imaging research using the new 7 Tesla MRI. Collaborate with faculty on neuroscience projects, including cognitive neuroscience, MRI, PET/SPECT/CT imaging labs supporting human, animal, and material research. Support for developing research protocols, attracting funding, and startup packages for new graduates will be provided.
Additional Departmental Highlights: Our teams utilize state-of-the-art technology for surgical and radiation procedures, including awake craniotomies, neuro-navigation, intra-operative ultrasound, and stereotactic radiosurgery.
Compensation: $420,000 - $440,000 annually.
