The VA Portland Healthcare Center is actively recruiting to fill a position for a Board Certified Staff Physician in Neurology with a focus on Parkinson's & Movement Disorders (BE considered). This role is dedicated to caring for our Veterans, America's Heroes.
The Portland Veterans Affairs Healthcare Center Neurologists manage a variety of movement disorder conditions in Veteran patients, including Parkinson's disease, Atypical Parkinsonian Disorders, Dystonia, Huntington's Disease, and others. The physician will see general neurology patients with inpatient neurology duties, which include both ward and consult services.
The candidate will participate in all aspects of a Movement Disorders Neurology program, including clinical, administrative, academic, and research components. The patient caseload may be inpatient, outpatient, or both, and will encompass a range of neurological disorders. The role requires comfort with DBS programming across multiple platforms and some procedural experience with botulinum toxin injections for conditions such as hemi-facial spasm, migraine, blepharospasm, dystonia, and occipital nerve blocks; training can be provided if necessary.
The position offers a manageable volume of patients and on-call duties, with a maximum of 4 weeks per year. Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Neurology is required.
