Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond seeks a Laboratory/Research Technician 1-3 to support neuroscience and immunology projects in the Microbiology and Immunology department. You will assist the PI, postdocs, and students with extramurally funded studies examining interactions among sensory neurons, immune cells, and skin tissues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in the life sciences with neuroscience or immunology experience.
  • Strong lab skills: pipetting, solution prep, safety.
  • Proficient data management and Excel usage.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee mouse colony and genotyping through PCR.
  • Maintain lab cleanliness and safety reporting.
  • Order reagents; maintain equipment.
  • Carry out mouse-based neurobiology and immunology experiments.
  • Prepare tissues for FACS, ELISA, and IHC.
  • Keep detailed lab notebooks and track reagents.
  • Assist other lab members as needed (10% effort).
