Job summary

UT Dallas is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support an NIH-funded project on neurobehavioral mechanisms of eating disorders in youth. You will oversee the fMRI protocol at BHIC and be the day-to-day presence on-site, working closely with Dr. Kathryn Smith and the BHIC team.

The role involves screening, MRI safety checks, scanner setup, task administration, and data management, with training provided. Prior hands-on neuroimaging experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree with a minimum of two years hands-on experience; equivalent combo acceptable.
• Experience collecting neuroimaging data in a research setting preferred.
• Familiarity with neuroimaging analysis software and task presentation tools.
• Comfortable engaging with children and families in developmentally appropriate ways.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lab’s primary on-site presence at BHIC, running study visits from start to finish.
• Develop and implement the neuroimaging protocol with the BHIC team.
• Prepare child participants and caregivers for scanning, including mock-scanner practice.
• Manage the lab’s scanning schedule and coordinate with BHIC staff.
• Oversee and supervise other study staff and students at BHIC.
• Assist with data collection and processing of neuroimaging data.
• Meet regularly with investigators on study progress.
• Maintain documentation of procedures, imaging data, and data management plans.
