Work Location: Duke Hospital, Durham, North Carolina (Primary location)

This role will float between Duke Hospital, Duke Raleigh Hospital a Campus of Duke University Hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center, and Duke Regional Hospital.

Work Hours: Standard business (Hours will vary)

General Summary

Oversee, manage, and coordinate the operational activities of the Neurodiagnostic department. This role involves supervising a team of 10 members and is equally divided between clinical duties and leadership responsibilities.

Work Performed

  • Supervise and coordinate schedule for the group ensuring proper schedules.
  • Distribution of assignments, adequate staffing, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties.
  • Maintain competencies for a variety of complex specialized procedures including but not limited to electroencephalograph, evoked potential, epilepsy monitoring, Tran cranial Doppler and polysomongraphy.
  • Coordinate, develop, and implement departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain liaison with medical, nursing and other hospital personnel. Assist in the evaluation of capital purchases and lab supplies.
  • Assist in determining fiscal requirements and preparing budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds.
  • Serve as a liaison and resource to staff, fellows, and attending physicians for equipment used in daily operations.
  • Train and instruct personnel on technical procedures performed in the department.
  • Perform various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, disciplinary actions and vacation scheduling.
  • Assist with the departmental accreditation process.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Some leadership experience but not required
  • 3 years IOM experience is required
  • Knowledge /experience with complex craniotomy procedures
  • CNIM certification preferred

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Prefer a Bachelors degree in biology, physiology, psychology, or related field.

Experience

Work requires 3 years of experience in Neurodiagnostics including but not limited to EEG, Evoked Potentials, Epilepsy, PSG and TCD’s. Prefer at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity (not required)

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Prefer a Bachelors degree in biology, physiology, psychology, or related field.
