Job Description

The Neurodiagnostic Technologist III is a Registered Electroencephalographic position in the Neurodiagnostic unit or department. The Technologist performs procedures according to facility policies and procedures, including test setup, electrode application, and maintaining patient safety during clinically significant events. Effective communication is essential for this role.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure electrode application adheres to the International 10-20 system.
  • Perform EEGs, recognize clinically significant events, and follow policies regarding critical test results.
  • Maintain patient safety and communicate effectively with care staff during EEG procedures.
  • Continuously learn and apply EEG waveform recognition, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, infection control, HIPAA practices, contraindications, instrumentation, and preparation.
  • Perform patient assessments related to care, including electrode fixation, allergies, movement restrictions, and cognitive functions.
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues and artifacts during EEG recordings.
  • Understand digital equipment, electrical safety, and alternative protocols.
  • Complete technical EEG reports, manage billing procedures, and log patients into electronic health records.
  • Stock supplies and prepare rooms for EEG procedures.
  • Perform other related duties consistent with patient and technical care.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience

Preferred: Enrollment or graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited Neurodiagnostic Program, or an Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited college/university.

Required: BLS Healthcare Provider CPR certification at hire.

Preferred: 6+ months experience in Pediatrics.

License and Certification

Registered from the American Board of Registered Electroencephalographic Technologists.

  • Basic knowledge of PC and Microsoft Windows.
  • Understanding of basic anatomy and physiology.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Technical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, in scheduled and unpredictable situations.
