Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Phoenix/Scottsdale seeks Neurophysiology Technologists to perform routine and extended EEG testing and support inpatient and long-term EEG monitoring. You will apply electrodes, troubleshoot issues, document assessments, and collaborate with physicians and the care team.

Positions may require coverage across Mayo Clinic Arizona locations and participation in EEG call rotations; level (Tech I-III) will be determined by education, experience, and credentials.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with Mayo Clinic’s Neurotech Trainee program or equivalently accredited NDT training.
  • CAAHEP accredited NDT program completion or formal NDT education with 1+ year Neurodiagnostics experience.
  • NDT program graduate with 1+ year Neurodiagnostics experience; or 3 years experience with alternative credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and extended EEG testing and support inpatient and long-term EEG monitoring.
  • Apply and maintain electrodes, troubleshoot issues, document findings, and escalate significant events.
  • Collaborate with physicians and care team within Neurology and Neurodiagnostics.
  • Participate in EEG call rotation and provide coverage at Mayo Clinic Arizona Phoenix or Scottsdale.

Responsibilities

A Neurophysiology Technologist is responsible for providing accurate, high-quality Neurodiagnostic testing. For this EEG-focused position, primary responsibilities include routine and extended EEG testing and support of inpatient and/or long-term EEG monitoring. Responsibilities may include electrode application and maintenance, troubleshooting technical issues, recognition and escalation of significant clinical or electrographic events, documentation, and collaboration with physicians and other members of the care team.


The incumbent must meet competency requirements appropriate to the assigned area of practice. Depending on departmental needs and the technologist's training and competencies, Neurodiagnostic services may include Electroencephalography (EEG), EMG including Nerve Conduction Studies, Evoked Potentials/QST, Autonomic studies, or IOM.


This position may be required to provide coverage at either Mayo Clinic in Arizona Phoenix or Scottsdale locations and may participate in the EEG call rotation.

Tech I Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and completion of Mayo Clinic’s Neurotech Trainee program; Or, Formal NDT education and a minimum of one (1) year of Neurodiagnostics experience, which includes previous clinical experience while attending a CAAHEP accredited NDT program or formal NDT education program; Or, Graduate from a CAAHEP accredited NDT program, and a minimum of one (1) year of Neurodiagnostics experience, which may include previous clinical experience while attending a CAAHEP accredited NDT program or formal NDT education program; Or, Associate’s degree in Neurodiagnostics from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one (1) year of Neurodiagnostics experience.


License or Certification


  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date.

  • Must be registered in one of the following based upon scope of work: REEGT, RNCST, or CAP.

  • For Associate’s degree candidates or formally educated candidates, designated registration must be obtained within 24 months from date of hire.


Tech II Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required. Completion of formal NDT education from an educational institution in coordination with a hospital and three (3) years of Neurodiagnostics experience, which includes previous clinical experience while attending a CAAHEP accredited NDT program or formal NTD education program; Or, Graduate from a CAAHEP accredited NDT program and three (3) years of Neurodiagnostics experience, which includes previous clinical experience while attending a CAAHEP accredited NDT program or formal NTD education program; OR, Associate’s degree in Neurodiagnostics from an accredited college or university with three (3) years of experience in Neurodiagnostics, which includes previous clinical experience while attending a CAAHEP accredited NDT program or formal NTD education program; OR, Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of three (3) years of Neurodiagnostics experience.


License or Certifications


  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date.

  • Must be registered in one of the following based upon scope of work: REEGT, RNCST, CNCT, or CAP.

  • Associate’s degree candidates or formally educated candidates, designated registration must be obtained within 24 months from date of hire. Possession of more than one credential is preferred.

  • REEGT required or preferred based on level and scope of practice. CLTM and/or demonstrated long-term EEG monitoring experience preferred for positions supporting continuous or long-term monitoring.


Tech III Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required. Completion of formal NDT education from an educational institution in coordination with a hospital and five (5) years of Neurodiagnostics experience, which includes previous clinical experience while attending a CAAHEP accredited NDT program or formal NDT program; OR, Graduate from a CAAHEP accredited NDT program and five (5) years of Neurodiagnostics experience, which includes previous clinical experience while attending a CAAHEP accredited NDT program or formal NDT program; OR, Associate’s degree in a Neurosciences related field/subject from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of Neurodiagnostics experience, which includes previous clinical experience while attending a CAAHEP accredited NDT program or formal NDT program; OR, Bachelor’s degree in Neurosciences related field/subject from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of Neurodiagnostics experience; OR, Master’s Degree in Neurosciences or related field, within 12 months of hire, and two (2) years of Neurophysiology experience.


License Or Certifications


  • Must be registered in one (1) of the following at time of hire: REEGT, RNCST, or CNIM*.

  • For technologists assigned to long-term EEG monitoring, CLTM and/or substantial long-term monitoring experience is preferred.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date.

  • *If supporting the IONM program, and the candidate has a Bachelor's degree or higher degree the advanced credential CNIM (e.g., NIMT) is required, with additional multi-credentials preferred.

This position supports the inpatient EEG and Long Term Monitoring services including 8 bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. Monday through Thursday weeknights 8pm-630am. No call. No weekend shifts.
