Job summary

Essentia Health’s Neurology/Neurodiagnostics team seeks a Neurodiagnostic Technician to perform EEG and nerve conduction studies across patient ages. You will prepare patients, calibrate equipment, and assist neurologists with data interpretation.

Role requires Associate degree in Neurodiagnostic Technology and BCLS certification, with potential for remote/hybrid options and day shifts in the United States. Training and professional development are available.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in Neurodiagnostic Technology required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology program.
  • Current BCLS certification or ability to obtain within 3 months from hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for EEG and NCV testing and explains procedures.
  • Determines extent and mode of testing and records data for interpretation.
  • Assists with analysis and interpretation of neurodiagnostic results under supervision.
  • Identifies abnormalities in brain wave patterns and communicates findings to neurologist.
  • Maintains quality control and regulatory standards and calibrates equipment.
  • Maintains neurodiagnostic equipment and supplies, and supports patient comfort during testing.
  • Performs routine maintenance on EEG and EMG equipment.

Building Location:Building F - Duluth Clinic - 3rd StreetDepartment:2042620 NEURO DIAGNOSTICS-EEG - SMDC HOSPJob Description:In this role you will get too:Performs standard electroencephalographic examinations and nerve conduction studies for patients of all ages according to established standards set by ASET, AANEM and Essentia Health under the guidance of a Neurologist.Work Experience: Previous EEG and NCV experience in an acute hospital setting or ambulatory care setting preferred.Education Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepares patients for variety of tests and explains procedures to patients and families
  • Determines the extent and mode of testing and records data for physician interpretation
  • Assists Neurodiagnostic Tech II to complete, analyze and interpret the results of neurodiagnostic tests accurately
  • Assists with Neurodiagnostic Tech II to identify abnormalities or irregularities in brain wave patterns, nerve conduction velocities and able to inform and communicate effectively to neurologist
  • Maintains strict adherence to quality control protocols and regulatory standards set forth by organizations like ASET and other relevant bodies. This includes properly calibrating equipment, maintaining accurate records, and following safety procedures to ensure the reliability and validity of test results
  • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of neurodiagnostic equipment and supplies. This may involve cleaning and sterilizing equipment, restocking supplies, and ensuring that all instruments are in good working condition to facilitate smooth testing procedures
  • Provides patient care and support throughout the testing process. This includes addressing patient concerns, answering questions about the procedure, and ensuring that patients feel comfortable and informed before, during, and after the test
  • Calibrates, operates, and performs routine maintenance on EEG and EMG equipment
Educational Requirement:
  • Associate's degree or Higher
  • Graduate of an accredited institution for Neurodiagnostic Technology
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous EEG and NCV experience in an acute hospital setting or ambulatory care setting
Licensure/Certification Qualifications:Certification/Licensure Requirements:

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or ability to become certified within 3 months from date of hire
