Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is hiring an EEG technician at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton to perform high-quality neurodiagnostic procedures following ACNS guidelines and ISOP, with accurate patient measurements and electrode placement. Flexibility to cross-cover sites and shifts is required.

Responsibilities include patient preparation, direct patient care, documentation, and collaboration with physicians and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to problem solve using basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles.
• Detail oriented with efficient computer skills.
• Ability to work independently and with physicians, co-workers and other clinical staff.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days in PA.

• Prepare patient for testing.

Summary

Responsible and accountable for the performance of high-quality Neurodiagnostic procedures following the "American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) Guidelines under minimal supervision. Must include accurate patient measurements and electrode application following the "International System of Electrode Placement" precise recordings, proper adjustment of equipment and testing procedures to reflect patient need and/or clinical physiology, enabling physician to make proper interpretation of study. Must be flexible to cross cover sites and assigned shifts.

• Utilizes effective communication skills in all interpersonal interaction with physicians, clinical staff, fellow employees, hospital staff and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Ability to problem solve using basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles.
• Detail oriented with efficient computer skills.
• Ability to work independently and interdependently with physicians, co-workers and other clinical staff.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 30 Days

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or Enrolled in a neurodiagnostic school program.
• or 1 year experience in health care or related field.

Physical Demands

• Lift and carry 40-50 lbs.
• Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight.
• Frequent to continuous standing/walking.
• Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift.
• *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
