The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) in Webster, TX, seeks an Electroneurodiagnostic Technician to perform EEG, IONM, LTM, EP, and NCV studies in a patient-centered setting.

You will apply 10/20 scalp electrodes, explain procedures, monitor data, and prepare studies for interpretation while ensuring patient safety and privacy. Qualifications include a high school diploma/GED and BLS; EEG experience preferred.

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a CAAHEP-accredited END program or equivalent experience; BLS recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Performs electroneurodiagnostic studies according to written protocols.
  • Explains procedures to patients and gathers medical history from patients and/or charts.
  • Applies standard scalp electrodes using the 10/20 placement system.
  • Adjusts test protocols based on patient history and study results, recognizing normal and abnormal variants.
  • Identifies and corrects electrical and electronic malfunctions.
  • Monitors and reviews raw study and video data during procedures.
  • Prepares completed neurodiagnostic studies for interpretation.
  • Completes the “Technician Impression” sheet, serving as a preliminary report.
  • Edits and archives neurodiagnostic recordings.
  • Competently performs routine inpatient and outpatient neurodiagnostic procedures.
  • Sets up and assists with specialized neurodiagnostic procedures.
  • Ensures patient safety, maintains privacy, and follows infection control protocols.

Job Description

To provide the basic technical skills necessary to perform one or more of the following electroneurodiagnostic procedures: electroencephalogram (EEG), intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM), long term monitoring (LTM), evoked potential (EP), and nerve conduction studies (NCV).
