Job summary

UNC Health's Sleep Disorders Center in Chapel Hill seeks a Neurodiagnostic Tech II to perform standard and complex polysomnographic testing and related procedures in the Sleep Disorders Lab, including bedside work. You will contribute to patient-centered care within a structured clinical team.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an AMA or CAAHEP accredited program in Sleep or Neurodiagnostics.
• Registered in Polysomnography (RPSGT) or Registered Sleep Technologist (RST).
• Per diem, night shift availability; on-site UNC Health

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic testing: polysomnographic testing with CPAP as indicated.
• Sets up room and equipment; calibrates and maintains devices.
• Reads and scores neurodiagnostic and polysomnographic tests.
• May instruct and guide other technologists in the lab.
• Obtains patient history and explains test prep to patients and families.
• Remote scoring opportunities available.

The Neurodiagnostic Techno II performs standard and complex neurodiagnostic tests and polysomnographic testing on patients in the Sleep Disorders Lab. Work may be performed in a lab or at patient bedside. At UNC Sleep Center, we have created a culture fostered through support, clinical structure, leadership and staff and patient centered care.

Responsibilities

• 1. Performs diagnostic patient testing: polysomnographic testing with possible oxygen therapy and continuous positive air pressure treatments (CPAP).
• 2. Perform room and equipment set-up and placement in patient and hospital rooms. Calibrate and maintain equipment.
• 3. Reads and scores neurodiagnostic and/or polysomnographic tests.
• 4. May provide instruction and guidance to other technologists in the Neurodiagnostic and/or Sleep Disorders Lab.
• 5. Takes patient history and Instructs patients and families on test preparation including pre and post-test interviews.
• 6. Diagnostic remote scoring opportunities available.

Education Requirements

• Graduation from an AMA or CAAHEP accredited program in Sleep or Neurodiagnostics program of Neurophysiology (or equivalent combination of experience, training and experience).

Licensure/Certification Requirements

• Registered in one of the following specialty areas: Polysomnography (RPSGT)
• Registered Sleep Technologist (RST)

Professional Experience Requirements

• If completion of an AMA or CAAHEP accredited program in Sleep or Neurodiagnostics: No prior experience required.
• If a High School diploma or GED: Two (2) years of experience performing a variety of Sleep or Neurodiagnostics procedures.
