Job summary

UNC Health Care in Chapel Hill is seeking a Neurodiagnostic Tech II to join the Sleep Disorders Program. The role performs standard and complex polysomnographic testing and related neurodiagnostic procedures in the lab or at the bedside, with a typical day shift from 8:00am to 6:00pm and onsite work.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Neurodiagnostics program and RPSGT certification, with responsibilities spanning patient prep, testing, data scoring, and potential guidance to

• Performs diagnostic polysomnographic testing in the Sleep Disorders Lab and at bedside.
• Operates room and equipment setup, calibrates and maintains equipment.
• Reads and scores neurodiagnostic/polysomnographic tests.
• May provide guidance to other technologists in the Neurodiagnostic/Sleep Disorders Lab.
• Takes patient history and prepares patients for tests.
• Possibility of diagnostic remote scoring.
• Setup and education for Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT).

The Neurodiagnostic Techno II performs standard and complex neurodiagnostic tests and polysomnographic testing on patients in the Sleep Disorders Lab. Work may be performed in a lab or at patient bedside. At UNC Sleep Center, we have created a culture fostered through support, clinical structure, leadership and staff and patient centered care.

Hours: 8:00am - 6:00pm

Responsibilities:

• 1. Performs diagnostic patient testing: polysomnographic testing with possible oxygen therapy and continuous positive air pressure treatments (CPAP).
• 2. Perform room and equipment set-up and placement in patient and hospital rooms. Calibrate and maintain equipment.
• 3. Reads and scores neurodiagnostic and/or polysomnographic tests.
• 4. May provide instruction and guidance to other technologists in the Neurodiagnostic and/or Sleep Disorders Lab.
• 5. Takes patient history and Instructs patients and families on test preparation including pre and post-test interviews.
• 6. Diagnostic remote scoring opportunities available.
• 7. Perform setup, patient education and download of Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT).

Education Requirements

• * Graduation from an acceptable program of Neurodiagnostics or acceptable pathway.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

• * Registered in one of the following specialty areas:
• *Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT)
• *Graduation from an accredited Neurodiagnostic 1-2-year academic program

Professional Experience Requirements

• * Completion of an acceptable program of Neurodiagnostics or acceptable pathway.
