Job summary

UNC Health Care System’s Sleep Disorders Program in Chapel Hill is seeking a Neurodiagnostic Tech II to perform standard and complex polysomnographic testing in the Sleep Disorders Lab, and possibly at the bedside. This per diem position offers night shifts and is onsite with a supportive team.

Qualifications include completion of an acceptable Neurodiagnostics program and licensure as Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT) or equivalent; there is consideration for Tech I level for inexperienced

Qualifications

• Graduation from an acceptable Neurodiagnostics program or acceptable pathway.
• Registration/licensure as Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT) or equivalent.
• Willing to consider Tech I with no experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic patient testing: polysomnographic testing with possible oxygen therapy and CPAP.
• Perform room and equipment set-up and placement in patient and hospital rooms; calibrate and maintain equipment.
• Reads and scores neurodiagnostic and/or polysomnographic tests.
• May provide instruction and guidance to other technologists in the Neurodiagnostic/Sleep Disorders Lab.
• Takes patient history and instructs patients and families on test preparation including pre/post-test interviews.
• Diagnostic remote scoring opportunities available.

The Neurodiagnostic Techno II performs standard and complex neurodiagnostic tests and polysomnographic testing on patients in the Sleep Disorders Lab. • 1. Performs diagnostic patient testing: polysomnographic testing with possible oxygen therapy and continuous positive air pressure treatments (CPAP).
• 2. Perform room and equipment set-up and placement in patient and hospital rooms. Calibrate and maintain equipment.
• 3. Reads and scores neurodiagnostic and/or polysomnographic tests.
• 4. 1. May provide instruction and guidance to other technologists in the Neurodiagnostic and/or Sleep Disorders Lab.
• 5. Takes patient history and Instructs patients and families on test preparation including pre and post-test interviews.
• 6. Diagnostic remote scoring opportunities available.

Education Requirements

• Graduation from an acceptable program of Neurodiagnostics or acceptable pathway.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

• Registered in one of the following specialty areas:
• Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT)
• Graduation from an accredited Neurodiagnostic 1–2-year academic program

Professional Experience Requirements

• Completion of an acceptable program of Neurodiagnostics or acceptable pathway.

-Willing to consider candidates with no experience to be hired at Neurodiagnostic Tech I level
