Job summary

Great River Health is seeking an Electroencephalography (EEG) Technician to accurately perform and troubleshoot electroneurodiagnostics tests as ordered by a physician. You will complete the required documentation and associated charges for these tests.

You will perform EEGs, explain procedures to patients, obtain patient identification, monitor comfort and safety, attach EEG leads, test and maintain equipment, ensure results are uploaded, and observe recordings to provide acceptable data for

Responsibilities

• Performs EEG on patients to get a recording of their brain activity through repeated cycles and notify the physician if anything appears wrong.
• Explain testing procedures to patients to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety.
• Obtain patient identification prior to performing the EEG.
• Monitor patients’ comfort and safety during tests, alerting physicians to abnormalities or changes in patient.
• Attach EEG leads to correct areas so that the reading can be performed appropriately.
• Check, test and maintain EEG equipment, making any minor adjustments to ensure proper operation.
• Ensure that test results are uploaded so that ordering physician is able to view.
• Observe the recording to get acceptable test results for the provider to review and interpret.
