As a Senior Neurodiagnostic Biomedical Technician, you will serve as a critical link between clinical care, biomedical technology, and healthcare information systems, ensuring that the sophisticated technologies supporting Neurodiagnostic Services operate reliably and efficiently.

Position Summary

The Senior Neurodiagnostic Biomedical Technician serves as the technical expert for neurodiagnostic equipment, software applications, network connectivity, and clinical system integration supporting Neurodiagnostic Services. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, optimizing, and supporting networked neurodiagnostic technologies, including EEG, EMG, and associated clinical systems. The position partners closely with Neurodiagnostic Services, Clinical Engineering, Health Information Technology, Cybersecurity, and vendor representatives to ensure system reliability, operational continuity, regulatory compliance, and exceptional support for clinical teams. The Senior Neurodiagnostic Biomedical Technician plays a key role in technology planning, workflow optimization, equipment lifecycle management, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as the primary technical resource for neurodiagnostic equipment, software platforms, and supporting technologies.
• Support EEG, EMG, and related neurodiagnostic systems to ensure reliable operation and optimal clinical performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, network connectivity, interface, and integration issues.
• Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues before they impact patient care or departmental operations.
• Coordinate technical support activities across Neurodiagnostic Services, Clinical Engineering, Health IT, and vendor partners.
• Support system upgrades, implementations, migrations, and technology enhancement projects.
• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of neurodiagnostic equipment.
• Maintain equipment performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance throughout the equipment lifecycle.
• Assist with equipment evaluations, technology planning, and replacement strategies.
• Ensure accurate maintenance records, service documentation, and asset tracking.
• Participate in quality assurance activities, investigations, and root cause analyses related to equipment or technology concerns.
• Collaborate with Clinical Engineering to support equipment standardization and operational excellence.
• Support connectivity and interoperability between neurodiagnostic equipment, clinical applications, and enterprise systems.
• Assist with data integration initiatives and workflow optimization efforts.
• Collaborate with Health IT teams on network connectivity, system interfaces, cybersecurity requirements, and change management processes.
• Support downtime preparedness, recovery procedures, and business continuity planning.
• Maintain awareness of emerging healthcare technology standards and interoperability concepts, including HL7.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clinicians, leadership, and operational partners.
• Build strong working relationships across Neurodiagnostic Services, Clinical Engineering, Health IT, Operations, and vendor organizations.
• Mentor and support team members through knowledge sharing, training, and technical guidance.
• Develop and deliver education and in-service training related to equipment operation, troubleshooting, and best practices.
• Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and clinical workflows through technology optimization.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives and technology standardization efforts.
• Support evaluation and implementation of new neurodiagnostic technologies and emerging solutions.
• Assist leadership with technology planning, capital equipment recommendations, and strategic initiatives.
• Stay current on advancements in neurodiagnostic technology, healthcare IT, biomedical engineering, and industry best practices.

Education

• Associate’s Degree required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Healthcare Technology Management, or a related field preferred.

Experience

• Five (5) or more years of relevant experience supporting biomedical equipment, healthcare technology, clinical systems, or networked medical devices required.

Licensure & Certifications

• Valid Virginia Driver’s License required.
• Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) preferred.
• CompTIA Network+ certification preferred.
• Additional manufacturer‑specific certifications highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting EEG, EMG, neurodiagnostic, or other specialized clinical technologies.
• Knowledge of healthcare networking, wireless technologies, and clinical system integrations.
• Understanding of healthcare interoperability concepts, including HL7.
• Experience working within hospital, academic medical settings.

Minimum Requirements

• Associate’s Degree or CBET, Microsoft, Medical Device Manufacturer Certification, etc.
• 5-7 years relevant experience.
• Valid Virginia Driver’s license required.

Physical Demands

Job requires sitting and standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/climbing ladders, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive) and walking (distance: 1–2 miles/day). Repetitive motion: computer keyboard and driving/traveling. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull 50–100 lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, fumes, chemicals, blood/body fluids, infectious disease and dust.

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $28.40–$52.48 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
