Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center (SJHMC) in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Specialty Physician Assistant to perform patient evaluations, coordinate pretreatment teaching, and collaborate with physicians to provide direct care under PA scope.

You will serve as the primary point of contact for patient management, document thoroughly, and participate in quality improvement activities as part of a multidisciplinary team within SJHMC's Humankindness mission.

Qualifications

  • Certification as Physician Assistant from Arizona Joint Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners
  • Background in pre‑med
  • Three (3) years clinical experience in related area or specialty field
  • DEA:AZ

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing patient evaluations, reviewing pretreatment teaching, recommending therapeutic intervention, counseling patients and families and collaborating with appropriate physicians to provide other appropriate direct care interventions within the scope of practice for physician's assistants.
  • Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement programs.
  • Works within a multidisciplinary team to develop plans for the patient and their family.
  • Gathers complete history of patients and perform complete physical examinations or focused physical examinations for specific complaints. Completes discharge summaries and maintains documentation on patient visits.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Specialty Physician Assistant, you will be responsible for performing patient evaluations, reviewing pretreatment teaching, recommending therapeutic interventions, counseling patients and families, and collaborating with appropriate physicians to provide other appropriate direct care interventions within the scope of practice for physician's assistants.

This involves meticulous assessment, empathetic communication, and seamless collaboration with physicians and other care providers to ensure comprehensive, high‑quality, and patient‑centered care within your specialized area.

To be successful in your role, you will strategically manage comprehensive patient care, performing evaluations, recommending therapeutic interventions, and counseling patients and families within your specialized area. You will demonstrate exceptional clinical proficiency in providing direct care, act as the primary point of contact for patient management, and collaborate effectively with physicians to ensure optimal outcomes, all within the defined scope of practice for physician's assistants.
