Job summary

Advocate Lutheran General Hospital is seeking an Advanced Practice Professional (Neurointensivist) to join a top neurocritical care team. The APP will manage complex neurocritical patients in a state-of-the-art Neuro ICU, collaborating with neurosurgeons, neurologists, and other APPs.

The role emphasizes clinical leadership, high-level patient care, and ongoing participation in quality initiatives within a nationally recognized Level I trauma center.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies.
• Active RN and APRN license in state(s) of practice.
• Active national board certification in area of clinical practice.
• DEA registration prior to hire.
• Illinois Controlled Substance License prior to hire if practicing in Illinois.
• BLS and/or ACLS, PALS, NRP as required.

Responsibilities

• Assessment & Diagnosis: Assesses, diagnoses, and determines treatment plans appropriate for age, acuity, and clinical condition.
• Condition Management: Manages conditions based on clinical indication, evidence-based care, cost-effectiveness, and assessment of risks/benefits and alternatives.
• Patient & Family Education: Provides health promotion, disease prevention, and disease management counseling and education of patients and families.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Manages patients as part of an interdisciplinary team and within scope of practice.
• Documentation & Compliance: Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record; submits professional services in line with compliant coding and billing practices.
• Care Coordination: Facilitates coordinated care and clear communication among all members of the healthcare team.
• Procedures: Performs office or hospital procedures per privileges (where applicable).
