Job summary

Whitman College is seeking a Lab Assistant for the Neurobiology Lab to support instructors and students during lab sessions. You will help prepare and break down lab setups and guide students through exercises, with emphasis on safety and attention to detail.

The role requires independent work, strong grasp of basic biology concepts, and reliable communication. Preference given to work-study eligible students; first-week Fall start with open-ended end date.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow multi-step instructions.
• Basic knowledge of biological concepts and principles.

Responsibilities

• Organize, clean, and test lab equipment.
• Assist Lab Coordinators and Faculty with setting up and tearing down lab preps.
• Answer questions regarding laboratory exercises from students in the lab.
• Complete safety training.
• Help to ensure safety procedures are carefully followed in the lab.
• Other duties as assigned.
