Qualifications include Texas RN license, BLS, and six months of RN experience, with CCU experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of clinical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse required
  • One (1) year of critical care experience as a licensed Registered Nurse preferred
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date)
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert care for patients with acute ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury (TBI), status epilepticus, and post‑neurosurgical recovery.
  • Perform frequent neurological assessments, monitor for signs of deterioration, and intervene rapidly to prevent secondary brain injury.
  • Manage advanced therapies, including ventilators, continuous EEG, and vasoactive medications.
  • Educate patients and families on neurological conditions, rehabilitation expectations, and recovery pathways.

Our 14-bed Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCCU) is a cutting-edge, high-acuity environment specializing in the management of critically ill neurological and neurosurgical patients. NCCU plays a vital role in providing advanced care for stroke, spinal cord injuries, lumbar drains, seizures, and other complex neurological conditions.
