Job summary

The Neuro ICU Advanced Practice Provider (APP) at Good Samaritan University Hospital, part of Catholic Health, West Islip, NY, delivers high-acuity neurological and neurosurgical patient care. The APP collaborates with intensivists, neurosurgeons, neurologists, and critical care RNs to optimize outcomes in a fast-paced Neuro ICU.

Required NYS NP/PA licensure, board certification, and 1–2 years of critical care or neuro ICU experience.

Qualifications

• Current NYS license as Nurse Practitioner (FNP/AGACNP preferred) or Physician Assistant.
• Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited NP or PA program.
• National board certification (AANP/ANCC for NP; NCCPA for PA).
• BLS and ACLS certification.
• At least 1–2 years of critical care, neurology, neurosurgery, or ICU-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive neurologic and critical care assessments for Neuro ICU patients.
• Formulate and implement evidence-based management plans with attending physicians.
• Interpret CT, MRI, EEG, and neuromonitoring results; manage ICP/EVDs and other devices.
• Initiate and titrate vasoactive and neurocritical care therapies; respond to emergencies.
• Participate in rounds with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to protocol improvement.
