Job summary

Reid Health seeks a Neuro Diagnostic Assistant to support neurologists in both outpatient and inpatient settings. You will be involved in evaluating patients, educating them about procedures, and coordinating diagnostic testing under the supervision of neurology physicians.

The role requires basic education, at least one year in patient care, and a solid understanding of insurance authorizations. CPR ability and strict infection control are essential to patient safety and quality care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must complete EEG and NCV/EMG orientation within 1 year of employment.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a patient care setting; neurology experience preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of insurance and prior authorizations.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate a patient for physical, social and psychological needs.
• Educate the patient on the procedure and remote monitoring device.
• Address and communicate patient concerns to the physician.
• Compile results and forward to the physician.
• Review patient insurance and obtain prior authorization when applicable.
• Schedule outpatient testing and transcribe orders into the EMR.
• Be able to perform CPR if needed and adhere to infection control standards.
• Demonstrate proper handling of equipment and supplies.
• Weekend/holiday call as needed; frequency varies with staffing.
• Meet the patient experience culture using AIDET & KSBs.
