Job summary

Blackrock Neurotech seeks an experienced Neural Data Infrastructure Engineer to own the data lifecycle from upload to training consumption. You will build scalable infrastructure for intracortical data, preserving scientific meaning and enabling AI/ML model development.

The role is hands-on on a small research team, collaborating with researchers and infrastructure teams to ensure proper storage, processing, and delivery resources for a growing neural data corpus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
• Experience designing end-to-end large-scale scientific data pipelines
• Expert Python programming skills
• Deep understanding of neural recordings and data handling
• Experience with data formats like NEV/NSx, NWB, HDF5, Zarr
• Experience with distributed/parallel processing and cloud storage
• Familiarity with PyTorch and DL workflows

Responsibilities

• Own the neural data pipeline from upload through training data loaders
• Ingest heterogeneous recording formats while preserving raw data and metadata
• Implement neural signal processing for spike events and waveforms
• Automate checks for data quality and metadata integrity
• Design scalable storage layouts and caching for large datasets
• Create reproducible, versioned datasets with provenance
• Collaborate with researchers to define input representations and interfaces
• Profile and optimize data loaders for GPU-backed training
• Coordinate with IT to plan capacity, access controls, and backups
• Establish testing, monitoring, and documentation practices
• Communicate data quality and resource needs clearly
