Job Description: Networking Solutions Engineer (US ONLY)

Meet the Team

As a Networking Solutions Engineer, you will partner primarily with a Networking Account Executive. You will collaborate with Portfolio Account Teams, Partners, and cross-functional teams to promote Cisco Networking brand preference with customers.

You will engage directly with customers to understand their requirements and recommend suitable products and solutions to achieve business goals. Additionally, you will work with Business Entity teams to influence and prioritize features and capabilities to meet customer demands.

Your Impact

You will work as a Solutions Engineer within the Americas Networking Organization, building relationships with key decision-makers, showcasing Cisco Networking products—especially in Secure Networking including Routing, Switching, Wireless, and Automation—and leading RFP responses, demonstrations, proof of value, and solution design to meet customer needs.

This pre-sales role requires a passion for technology and customer interaction, focusing on architectural selling across various verticals and segments. You should be skilled in communicating complex technical architectures and solutions to decision-makers and comfortable speaking publicly.

You will stay updated on networking trends, competitive solutions, and market changes, working with diverse technologies and demonstrating strong teamwork and consultative skills. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Partnering with Account Executives to drive business growth
  2. Generating demand and enabling technology capabilities
  3. Understanding customer needs and mapping solutions accordingly
  4. Serving as a trusted network design advisor
  5. Maintaining deep product knowledge and positioning Cisco solutions effectively
  6. Conducting product demos and PoC labs
  7. Monitoring industry trends to anticipate customer needs
  8. Collaborating across teams and business units
  9. Helping customers with complex digital transformation challenges
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in designing Routing, Wireless, and Switching deployments (On-Prem and Cloud)
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, LISP), segmentation technologies (VRF, MPLS, ZeroTrust, SDA, 802.1x, Adaptive Policy), and network management
  • Understanding of competitive networking products (HPE/Aruba, Juniper, Arista, Fortinet)
  • Customer-focused attitude
  • Expertise in wired and wireless campus networks
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Solutions Engineering or pre-sales roles
  • Cisco Certifications (CCNP, CCIE) a plus
  • Strong Cisco product background
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • BS/BA degree (preferably EE/CS) or equivalent
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of APIs and programmability a plus
