Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking an IT Network (VoIP) Engineer Lead to design, implement, and support enterprise voice infrastructure across the campus.

This role will lead a team of technical resources and drive projects related to voice and related applications. The position requires a master level understanding of voice technologies, 5+ years in related design and support, and strong project management and mentoring capabilities within a healthcare provider

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems/Computer Science or related field is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Avaya or other voice technologies related to voice infrastructure.
  • 5+ years experience with design, implementation, and support of voice technologies in a complex enterprise network.
  • 5+ years’ experience in operations and monitoring of telecommunication systems (PBX, VoIP, QoS, voicemail, etc.).
  • 5+ years working with Windows/Microsoft, HP-UX, Solaris in enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team delivering enterprise voice services and Call Center applications.
  • Develops and manages complex projects related to voice and application technologies.
  • Provides project and work task supervision including performance reviews.
  • Mentor junior staff and collaborate with IM team members.
  • Install and manage voice technologies and applications (SIP trunking, Call Center).
  • Monitor performance of enterprise voice infrastructure and technologies.

Job Description The IT Network (VoIP) Engineer Lead is primarily responsible for the design, implementation and support of enterprise voice infrastructure and applications utilized by Lurie Children’s. This includes telecommunication and relevant network appliances and technology for transport of voice services within the Lurie Children’s campus and the Internet. This position is expected to lead a team of technical and other resources in accomplishing this goal. This position will provide project and task supervision for all network infrastructure team members including performance review feedback. The IT Network (VoIP) Engineer Lead must also possess a master level understanding of all assigned voice, network, and application technologies.

Essential Job Functions
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of technical and other resources in the delivery of a key Lurie Children’s voice technology service, including Call Center applications.
  • Develops and manages complex projects related to voice and application technologies as indicated.
  • Provides project and work task supervision of all team members, including feedback to departmental management for performance reviews and other management needs.
  • Mentors more junior technical staff and/or other IM team members.
  • Participate in other department or organizational project tasks as required.
  • Install and manage assigned voice technologies and application software.
  • Voice over IP PBX technology Call Center, eFax, e911, etc. applications SIP Trunking to adjunct systems
  • Develops and maintains cable, network rooms, and other physical elements of the voice infrastructure.
  • Completes assigned Service Desk support tickets within Information Management Department standards.
  • Serves as liaison to vendors for equipment and software maintenance
  • Develops and documents procedures covering all aspects of enterprise-wide network infrastructure.
  • Monitors and reports on performance for all enterprise voice infrastructure and technologies.
  • Assumes on-call responsibility for data center equipment operations, per the schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems/Computer Science or a directly related field or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Avaya or other voice technologies as they relate to the voice infrastructure.
  • 5+ years experience with design, implementation, and support of relevant voice technologies in a complex enterprise network environment.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the operations and monitoring of all telecommunication systems, including PBX switches, VoIP, quality of service, voice mail, call/cost accounting, telephones, internal wireless phones.
  • 5+ years of experience working with Microsoft, HP-UX, Solaris, and Windows client/server-based equipment/operating systems and applications in a complex enterprise network environment highly desired.
  • 5+ years experience in information systems within a health care provider organization is desired.
  • 5+ years working with cable management and standards for IDF and Data Centers.
  • Certification in Avaya, Cisco, Microsoft, and other networking technology highly desired.
  • Master level skills in relevant voice technologies.
  • Programming or scripting skills necessary to assist in server and client management tasks.
  • Demonstrated project management skills from both team member and leader roles.
  • Analytical thinking for effective problem determination and correction within the department and in the user community is essential.
  • The ability to work independently, make decisions under pressure, while providing timely and responsive services are the keys to this position.
  • Excellent time and project management skills, customer service and interpersonal skills, system diagnostic and communication (written and oral) are critical for success in this position.

Pay Range $110,240.00-$181,896.00 Salary At Lurie Children’s, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position. Ranges are regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions. In addition to base salary, Lurie Children’s offer a comprehensive rewards package that may include differentials for some hourly employees, leadership incentives for select roles, health and retirement benefits, and wellbeing programs.
