Job summary

Fairfax County Government is seeking a Network and Telecommunications Analyst II to maintain and support the county's LAN/WAN environment, handle server maintenance, backup/recovery, and diagnose complex network issues.

The role also involves providing help desk support, coordinating with planners and vendors, and ensuring documentation and staff training. Strong related degree and several years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Possession of an associate degree in computer science, electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field; plus three years of network and/or telecommunications experience; or a bachelor's degree in such fields; plus one year of experience in network or telecommunications system design, analysis, installation, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of data and voice communications protocol and industry standards.
• Ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate special projects and assignments.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships.

Responsibilities

• Provides support functions for assigned agencies.
• Reviews, evaluates, and approves work order requests.
• Analyzes and prioritizes agency requirements and designs, implements, and programs software changes accordingly.
• Oversees network/telecommunications projects related to new construction and relocations.
• Plans and implements system security and maintains network operations.
