As a Network Technician I, you will join DoIT’s support team serving multiple county sites and offices in downtown Martinez. Your role will include providing desktop and network support across sites, assisting users with varying technical backgrounds, and collaborating with Network Administrators on projects. Desirable Qualifications:
  • Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or related certifications.
  • Cloud Expertise: Proficiency in AWS, Azure, or other cloud technologies.
  • Programming Skills: Knowledge of Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.
  • Security Frameworks: Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS to ensure comprehensive security measures.
  • Vendor Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Tanium Certified Operator, vendor-specific certifications, Tesira Certifications, Crestron Certifications, Dante Digital Audio Certification Levels 1 – 3.
  • Audio Visual Expertise: Some experience in designing, supporting, and innovating audio-visual equipment or spaces. Including both indoor meeting spaces and outdoor events.

The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six (6) months and may also be used for countywide openings.

License Requirement: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Out of State valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License will be accepted during the application process.

Education: Possession of an Associatesof Arts degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science or information processing OR completion of 24 semester units or 36 quarter units in computer science or information systems

Experience: One (1) year of full-time experience performing computer and network systems equipment installation duties.

Substitution for Education:

  1. (1) Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of two (2) years.
  2. (2) Possession of a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or other comparable network-focused certifications at an equivalent or higher level may substitute for six (6) months of the required education per certification, up to a maximum of two (2) years.

  1. Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.
  2. Training and Experience Questionnaire: Candidates will be required to complete a training and experience questionnaire at the time of filing. The responses to the training and experience questions on the supplemental questionnaire will be used to evaluate candidates' relevant education, training, and/or experience as it relates to the Network Technician I Classification. (Weighted 100%)
  3. Final Selection Interviews: Will be scheduled by the department once the eligible list is established.
