Qualifications

  • Experience organizing copper patch cabling.
  • Experience mounting equipment and rack-and-stack activities.

  • Experience installing patch cables and verifying connections.
  • Experience mounting or replacing wireless access points.
  • Understanding of link lights and PoE status.
  • Strong cable management, labeling, organization and documentation.
  • Able to work safely on ladders in confined closet spaces.
  • Follow deployment plans and escalate issues to leadership.
  • Work independently and escalate technical issues appropriately.
  • Onsite work in a hospital environment.
  • Support after-hours maintenance windows when required.
  • Reliable transportation to Providence locations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cable management within MDFs, IDFs, network closets, and telecom rooms
  • Organize and dress copper and fiber patch cables
  • Install horizontal and vertical cable managers
  • Replace Velcro straps and other cable supports
  • Remove approved abandoned patch cords
  • Maintain clean and organized rack layouts
  • Verify rack and equipment labeling
  • Assist network engineers with physical switch replacement activities
  • Mount switches and other network equipment in racks
  • Install copper and fiber patch cables according to provided documentation
  • Verify physical connections, link lights, and basic equipment status
  • Assist with mounting and replacing wireless access points
  • Label ports, patch panels, switches, equipment, and cables
  • Support equipment and inventory reconciliation
  • Maintain clean work areas and remove installation debris
  • Follow established deployment procedures and elevate technical issues to project leadership

Network Technician – Network Lifecycle Deployment

Contract Length

10 weeks, with potential for extension based on project needs

Location
  • Portland: 7 openings – 100% onsite at Providence St. Vincent in Portland, OR
  • Seattle Area: 4 openings – 100% onsite supporting Providence Mount St. Vincent in West Seattle and Providence Mill Creek in Everett. Candidates must be comfortable traveling between both locations based on the deployment schedule.
Hours

Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week. Flexibility will be required around scheduled network maintenance windows and potential after-hours deployment activities.

Client Overview

Our client is launching a Network Lifecycle initiative to modernize its wired and wireless network infrastructure and establish a repeatable lifecycle refresh model across its organization.

The initial pilot will support multiple healthcare locations, with the broader program intended to scale across the enterprise.

Medasource is especially focused on connecting military veterans and military spouses with opportunities on this initiative. Candidates with military experience are encouraged to highlight transferable experience in communications, networking, cabling, electronics, technical operations, and field deployments.

Job Description

The Network Technician will provide hands‑on support for Providence Health’s network lifecycle deployment activities at an assigned pilot location.

Working under the direction of project leadership and network engineering resources, this individual will support network closet cleanup, cable management, equipment installation, switch replacement activities, wireless access point installations, physical connectivity checks, labeling, and inventory reconciliation.

This is a hands‑on physical deployment role. The Network Technician will not be primarily responsible for network design or advanced switch and wireless configuration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install horizontal and vertical cable managers
