Job summary

The Kinetic team is seeking a Network Technician to perform installation, maintenance, and repair of voice, data, and transport systems across the United States. You will complete post-install tests, coordinate central office work, and conduct OTDR testing, while ensuring safety and proper reporting to local management.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and 2+ years of relevant experience; certifications and two-year technical degrees are a plus.

Qualifications

Associate degree or 2-3 years telephony/technical experience required.
Safety-sensitive position with required training.
Ability to read job packs and understand CLR/DLR materials.
Experience with transport equipment and testing is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform routine installation, maintenance, and repair of network systems.
Complete post-install tests for call processing and AMA testing.
Coordinate central office equipment, fiber cross-connects, and wiring.
Conduct OTDR tests and interpret results.
Perform Fixed Wireless Installation & Maintenance.
Operate and maintain company service vehicle safely.
Work in inside and outside environments and follow safety standards.
Report to the Manager of Local Operations.

What You'll Do:

Perform routine installation, maintenance, and repair activities for network systems including voice, data, network, transport, and video equipment.
Complete post installation tests for call processing functionality and AMA testing.
Coordinate central office/Network equipment, card/SFP insertions, translations, fiber cross-connects and inside wiring activities.
Perform OTDR tests and understand results.
Fixed Wireless Installation & Maintenance.
Safely operate and maintain clean and organized company service vehicle.
Work in both inside and outside environments.
Complete necessary safety training and follow safety standards and regulations.
You will report to the Manager of Local Operations.

Do You Have?

Ability to understand CLR/DLR and Engineering job packs.
Ability to perform OTDR tests and understand results.
Basic technology and math skills - Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
Ability to distinguish colors in use of color-coded cable.
Ability to use equipment with maximum load capacity of 275lbs.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs, capable of working aloft.
Ability to successfully complete required safety training.
Ability to work assigned schedules and extended hours including day, evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
Ability to respond to after hour callouts.
High School Degree or GED equivalent.

Certifications or training directly related to the position.
Two-year technical degree in computers or electronics, or the equivalent in work experience.
Knowledge in the following areas:
- DS1/DS3 installation, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Analog Transport installation, testing, and troubleshooting.
- SONET OC-3/12/48 installation, testing, and troubleshooting.
- WDM/CWDM/DWDM installation, testing, and troubleshooting.
- EWSD programming and troubleshooting.
- EWSD Translations

The minimum starting pay for this position is $23.79 hourly.

Minimum Requirements:

Associate degree in a technical discipline and 2-3 years technical/telephony experience; or 4+ years of directly related telephony experience, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related telephony experience. This is a safety sensitive position.
