Summary
The Network Tech will be part of a team that owns the development, maintenance and end‑to‑end support of the network servers, backbone, and desktop/laptop computers. Responsibilities include end‑user support, disaster recovery, LAN, Windows servers, SAN, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Cisco and Checkpoint switches, remote access devices, and third‑party software. The role involves network design, implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and may lead and direct the work of others.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support of all network servers, switches, workstations and printers including installation and upgrades.
- End‑user support of applications including desktops, laptops, Windows operating system, Microsoft 365, Adobe products, and other software.
- Resolve technical issues in a timely manner and adapt previous solutions to new conditions.
- Document problems and solutions accurately on case notes.
- Manage backup and recovery of data and systems.
- Manage and maintain the Windows and VMware ESX server farm.
- Assist in maintaining department records for hardware, software, networks and service agreements.
- Participate in project efforts and infrastructure enhancements to meet company goals.
- Collaborate with 3rd‑party vendor support for upgrades and fixes.
- Maintain asset inventory, network diagrams and related records.
- Provide instruction and training to end‑users.
- Provide occasional planned and emergency off‑hour support.
- Knowledge of VMware ESX, MS‑SQL, and/or cloud infrastructure is a plus.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of related work experience.
- Experience installing, updating and maintaining OT and custom software.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Office.
- Ability to install, upgrade and manage Windows servers.
- Practical knowledge of Active Directory, TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, RAS/VPN, VMware.
- Experience with backup/restore solutions.
- Experience with software diagnostics, configuration and installation in Microsoft Windows and Office Suites.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- In‑depth knowledge of end‑user desktop issues including email, remote support tools, application support, web technologies, video conferencing and IT security.
- Infrastructure knowledge of SANs, switches and wireless networking.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to write processes and understand technical documentation.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of end‑users at all levels.
- Certifications (advantage):
- Checkpoint and/or Cisco certification.
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or A+ certification in Desktop or Server Infrastructure.
Education Requirements
- BA/BS in Information Technology or Business Analysis.
- Or BA/BS in any field combined with relevant experience.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Work requires mobility with frequent bending and standing.
- Lifting and moving computers, servers, monitors, UPS batteries, etc.
- Frequent use of arms for stretching and reaching and legs for walking and lifting; 80%–90% of time spent sitting.
- Works in an office and remote setting, using standard office equipment.
Compensation
$60,000 - $100,000
