Job Description

Position: Network Systems Analyst II

Reports To: Operations Manager/Site Lead

Department: AFNORTH WADS

FLSA Status: Exempt

General Function

Provide IT support for networks, servers, and client-level devices, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of network and application server hardware, network operating system software, security patches, and peripheral network equipment such as routers, bridges, cabling systems, network interface cards, modems, multiplexers, concentrators, telecommunications equipment, and Personal Wireless Communications Systems (PWCS).

Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)
  1. Design, configure, install, and manage data services, operating systems, and server applications (e.g., SQL/MS SQL servers). Provide directory services using dynamically assigned IP addresses, DNS, network storage, and electronic messaging resources.
  2. Manage secure authentication via PKI technologies. Implement security fixes, patches, and antivirus software. Develop and test contingency plans. Handle documentation related to C4 systems, TSRs, TSOs, and acquisition messages.
  3. Schedule and support user operations for Audio/Visual (A/V) and Secure Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems.
  4. Configure and troubleshoot computer and network equipment on both unclassified and classified networks supporting A/V, VTC, and approximately 300 networked workstations, VoIP, SVoIP, phones, and printing.
  5. Manage system resources, perform backups, data recovery, and optimize system performance. Enforce security policies, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate trouble resolution and outages.
  6. Apply security updates using enterprise tools, ensuring compliance with DoD and Air Force policies.
  7. Conduct proactive security measures, intrusion detection, and firewall management. Develop scripts for vulnerability patching and system deployment.
  8. Support information warfare operations, analyze threats, and implement defensive TTPs on Air Force and DoD networks.
  9. Provide client-level IT support, manage hardware/software, perform troubleshooting, and restore system operations.
  10. Support PWCS, including configuration, management, troubleshooting, and security incident response.
  11. Plan and execute maintenance activities, ensure compliance with technical standards, and develop safety and repair procedures.
  12. Operate and maintain video teleconferencing equipment.
  13. Develop and support web applications, intranet sites, and documentation using Microsoft SharePoint and other tools.
  14. Create and edit video content for presentations, training, and archives. Support visual information and publication management.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills/Abilities
  • Expertise in client and network operating systems, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Knowledge of server management, desktop applications, security, and databases.
  • Understanding of network transport layers and IA principles.
  • Ability to multitask and communicate effectively at various organizational levels.
  • Security clearance required. Must pass drug screen and background check.
Minimum Experience & Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of client and mobile systems administration training.
  • Security+ certification and IA Technician Level II certification, with at least 4 years of related network/system admin experience.
  • Experience with network infrastructure installation and upgrades using management tools like WSUS, SCCM, and ADUC.
