Job summary

BCforward is seeking a Network / System Engineer III to join our team in Charlotte, NC or Jersey City, NJ on a 12-month contract. The role focuses on mainframe TCP/IP, SNA/APPN, high-availability operations, and automation to modernize resilient network solutions that support critical workloads.

You will engineer, operate, and monitor networks, advance observability, and drive AI-assisted operations while addressing security, performance, and reliability throughout the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting enterprise-scale networks with high availability.
• Strong TCP/IP networking expertise (OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, EtherChannel).
• Proficiency with packet trace analysis and multi-layer troubleshooting.
• Hands-on mainframe SNA/APPN networking.
• Knowledge of switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, TLS/SSL, REST APIs.
• Experience using IBM NetView and IBM OMEGAMON automation and performance tools.
• Assembler and REXX programming skills.
• Mainframe experience with z/OS and TSO.

Responsibilities

• Continuously improve solutions to meet performance, capacity, resiliency, and cybersecurity compliance standards.

• Proficiency with packet trace analysis and multi-layer troubleshooting techniques.
• Hands‑on experience with SNA/APPN networking in mainframe environments.
• Working knowledge of switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, certificates, TLS/SSL, and REST APIs.
• Experience using IBM NetView and IBM OMEGAMON automation and performance tools.
• Assembler and REXX programming skills.
• Mainframe experience with z/OS and TSO.

Preferred Skills:

• Background in network observability, telemetry design, and automation frameworks.
• Experience with AI-assisted operations for incident detection and remediation.
