Job Description:

  • Sherpa 6, Inc has an exciting opportunity for a Network SME in support of the US Army’s Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) project. IVAS is a rapid prototyping and integration effort to develop leap-ahead technology that combines an advanced, conformal display and provides the Soldier an immersive augmented reality environment. It is a single platform of sensors, software, and connectivity where Soldiers can rehearse, train and fight – all while providing increased situational awareness, mobility, and effectiveness.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive network integration support to a virtual and live integrated tactical network.
  • You will facilitate the integration of the cutting-edge technologies fielded to the US Army Warfighter. Working hand in hand with various technology laboratories around the country, you will ensure the networks are compatible and optimized.
  • Assists the Network Lead on planning support and integration of IVAS with other ITN mission command, tactical radio, and cloud systems.
  • Configuring firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security.
  • Administer Linux and other server systems.
  • Identifies network improvements and innovations with emphasis on configuration management down to the Configuration Item (CI) levels.
  • Performs quality control checks and configuration audits ensuring the effectiveness and reliability of the communication systems, tools, and products.
  • Ability to communicate system capabilities and functionality clearly and effectively to individuals not familiar with the topic.
  • This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to effectively brief senior level government stakeholders.
  • Assists the Network Lead on technical planning, system integration, verification and validation and analysis, supportability, and effectiveness for communication systems throughout the PEO portfolio.
  • Plan and conduct analysis/research, design/development, and other assignments in conformance with design, engineering, and customer/program specifications.
  • The successful candidate will serve as a key component to a technical management team consisting of uniformed, government and other contractor personnel.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology related field of study with a network engineering focus, or equivalent work experience within the Department of Defense.
  • 10 years proven experience working on DOD tactical networks (RF, Wi-Fi, LAN/WAN).
  • Strong experience with the ITN architectures and network hardware configurations.
  • Experience designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks.
  • Active DoD secret security clearance or the ability to obtain a secret clearance.
  • Military experience or knowledge of standard tactics, techniques, and procedures.
  • Solid experience problem solving system and network design issues.
  • Ability to communicate issues and solutions to various stakeholders.
  • Excellent written communications and reporting skills.
  • Familiar with RDT&E across different Government Organizations.
  • Familiar with Government procurement processes.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Knowledgeable of Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) Radios.
  • Knowledge of the Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK) / NettWarrior ecosystem.
  • Must be a US citizen.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with systems integration in a cloud environment (i.e. Azure, AWS).

Salary Range:

The proposed salary range is reflective across all Sherpa 6 locations, years of experience and skill levels. Salary negotiations will be based on a host of factors including but not limited to your geographic location, prior experience, relevant skills, education, and certifications.
