Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a network engineer to assist on high-level projects, architect, design, and implement complex network infrastructures. You will work with the Escalations team to resolve advanced issues across a diverse client base, troubleshoot outages in unfamiliar environments, and travel is required for field engagements.

This role involves a mix of in-office, remote, and field work.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of real world IT experience required.
• Intermediate understanding of routing, switching, wireless, troubleshooting.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Project management skills with ability to meet deadlines.
• TCP/IP stack understanding.
• Windows Server DHCP, DNS, NPS experience.

• Work closely with Escalations team to resolve advanced networking issues across client base
• Troubleshoot network impacting outages in unfamiliar environments

Requirements

• 1-3 years of real world, IT experience is required for this position
• Intermediate understanding of routing, switching, wireless, troubleshooting and technical problem-solving
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong organizational, operational and inter-personal skills
• Assertive, customer-oriented and task-driven attitude
• Project management skill set, with demonstrated ability to adhere and deliver to deadlines and project timelines
• Strong understanding of the TCP/IP stack
• Understanding and hands-on experience with Windows Server DHCP, DNS, Radius (Network Policy Server or NPS) services
• Significant experience with L2 technologies such as 802.1d (STP and its variant), 802.1x, 802.1ad
• Experience with wireless technologies and vendor management is a strong plus
• Experience working with VPNs and tunneling technologies is a strong plus: SSL/TLS based VPNs, IPSEC, Routing/Policy based VPNs, GRE tunnels
• Basic understanding of advanced networking, including on-premises enterprise-grade infrastructure, as well as cloud-based network 'appliances' and interfaces
• Hands-on experience with vendors like Cisco, Palo Alto, SonicWall, Meraki, Fortinet, Aruba, Ruckus
• Experience with the Linux operating system is a plus
• In-depth understanding of the AWS/Azure ecosystem is a strong plus.
