Job description

Are you a systems expert who enjoys working behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly? Join NineStar Connect as a Network Server Administrator and help support the critical infrastructure that powers our communications, electric, water, and wastewater services across Central Indiana. In this role, you’ll research, design, implement, and maintain the server and network systems that keep our operations secure, stable, and efficient.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain physical and virtual server infrastructure using Windows Server 2012–2022, RedHat Enterprise Linux 8–9, and Windows 10/11 systems.
  • Manage enterprise backup, disaster recovery, and remote access systems to ensure business continuity.
  • Monitor and support IAM systems, Group Policy, Entra ID, and Active Directory environments.
  • Administer Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) log collection and analysis tools.
  • Configure and support Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL databases, and NetApp storage arrays.
  • Maintain and monitor VMware environments and ensure redundancy across sites.
  • Perform routine security updates, system patching, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors on system integration and support.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network infrastructure, switches, and firewalls.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and technical guidelines for internal use.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux server environments
  • Experience with virtual environments (VMware), SAN/NAS systems, and backup tools (Veeam)
  • Familiarity with scripting and automation tools like PowerShell, Python, and Ansible
  • Working knowledge of Elastic Stack, DNS/DHCP, LDAP, SMTP, and SNMP
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve advanced server and network issues
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management and documentation skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Technology or a related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in a similar server or systems administrator role
  • Minimum of 3 years of Linux administration experience required
  • VMware experience required
  • Additional certifications (RHCT, RHCE, LPIC) preferred
  • Experience in a utility or telecommunications environment is a plus
