Job summary

Penn State Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) in San Diego, CA seeks a Network Security Engineer to join the DevSecOps Team of the JMIE Division. You will design and maintain secure network architectures across multidomain and cloud environments, and develop RMF documentation and artifacts for accreditation.

The role requires proven experience in vulnerability management and NIST 80053/JSIG controls, with a TS/SCI clearance or eligibility.

Qualifications

• Experience developing RMF documentation and guiding systems through accreditation.
• Ability to design and scale secure network architectures across multidomain systems.
• Strong background in vulnerability management, scanning, and control implementation.
• Experience interpreting policy, producing evidence, and documenting test results for NIST 80053/JSIG controls.
• Active TS/SCI clearance (or eligibility to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain network security architectures across multidomain and cloud environments.
• Define and enforce cybersecurity and network administration processes.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, systems, and cloud teams using Agile methods.
• Develop RMF documentation and evidence artifacts for RMF packages.
• Apply security engineering principles to validate system security requirements.
• Conduct network security assessments, vulnerability analysis, and threat modeling.
• Plan, execute, and report security assessments across multiple classifications.
• Implement and validate security controls across network architectures and boundaries.
• Coordinate RMF documentation for accreditation of cloud environments.
• Support lifecycle security like patch management and change control.
• Mentor and support team members.
