Job summary

Sigma Defense seeks a Network Security Engineer II in San Diego, CA. The role emphasizes implementing DoD cybersecurity policies, vulnerability management, and incident response within CANES environments.

You will harden Windows/Linux systems, manage SIEM/SOAR configurations, and collaborate across teams to maintain compliance and secure operations. A Secret clearance is required or can be obtained.

Qualifications

• 3–10 years of security experience in enterprise/network environments.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Security+ CE or CISSP certification required, or one OS/platform cert: Linux, Windows, VMware, Cisco.

Responsibilities

• Implement and enforce DoD cybersecurity policies (STIGs, RMF, NIST SP 800-53) across CANES systems.
• Design, develop, implement and troubleshoot vulnerabilities within CANES.
• Lead efforts to harden Windows/Linux systems, apps, devices, and network gear.
• Assist with IAVM compliance, log analysis, and audit readiness tasks.
• Perform patch management, system scanning, and incident response coordination.
• Maintain system documentation and cybersecurity artifacts.
• Support system validation during test events and production installs.
• Submit configuration updates via GitLab/GitHub, Spork/Spork+.
