Job summary

Children's Mercy in Kansas City is seeking a Security Engineer to protect the network perimeter, harden computer systems and safeguard data such as passwords and customer information. You will configure, manage security tools to secure, log and monitor network traffic and access to systems and applications, and implement security solutions aligned with best practices and compliance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 5-7 years experience
CISSP Preferred
Security+ Preferred

Responsibilities

Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot security systems firewalls, routers, switches, intrusion detection systems, anti‑virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc.
Identify and define base security standards and configurations for networks and systems to harden and remediate vulnerabilities.
Research and test security tactics, techniques, and procedures in a lab and implement best practices in production to improve security posture.
Analyze network traffic to inform defensive strategies and troubleshoot security incidents involving firewalls, IDS/IPS, and segmentation.
Deploy role-based administration across security, networking, and systems devices to enforce least privilege.
Conduct risk assessments and audits with ISO 27001 understanding and communicate risks and mitigations.
Establish secure VPN and remote support capabilities for internal employees and vendors
