Job summary

University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking a Network Security Administrator in the IT department to protect UCSF’s network infrastructure and data. The role focuses on configuring and maintaining security devices, VPNs, DDI, CASB/SASE, and incident response, while partnering with IT and vendors to implement secure, reliable services across campus.

You will work with cross-functional teams to harden devices, monitor threats, and ensure compliance with policies, supporting UCSF's

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in network services, IT, security, or operations.
• Knowledge of firewalls, IDS/IPS, NAC, web filtering, DDI, VPN, and network visibility solutions.
• Experience with VPN technologies.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as Datadog, Panorama, or Firemon.
• Understanding of ITIL and service delivery in networks.
• Knowledge of authentication protocols and modern TCP/IP networks (OSPF, VLANs, QoS, tunneling).
• Experience with Cisco Routing and Switching.
• Ability to work independently and with teams.
• Understanding organizational network needs and delivering security.

Responsibilities

• Configure, install, and manage network security devices and technologies.
• Fulfill project requests (firewall policies, VPN tunnels, DDI, CASB incident response).
• Manage vulnerabilities on network security devices.
• Resolve incidents on enterprise network and security systems.
• Assist in developing device hardening standards.
• Collaborate with management, IT-Security, and vendors to implement new solutions.
• Ensure secure, reliable network services across UCSF campuses.
