Job summary

MDP Global is seeking a senior Cisco Security Engineer for a 3-month remote contract focused on Firepower and Secure Access. The ideal candidate will design, deploy and troubleshoot complex security environments for customer projects, communicating clearly with clients and guiding them through technical decisions.

You will work hands-on with Cisco Firepower (FTD/FMC) and Cisco Secure Access, migrate and upgrade platforms, and produce documentation and runbooks.

Cisco Security Engineer – Firepower & Secure Access (Contract)

Location: Remote - Mid-West Preferred

Contract: 3 months, with the option to extend based on project needs

Rate: $90 Per Hour

About the Role

We're partnering with a growing IT solutions provider looking for a senior Cisco Security Engineer to support customer security projects on a 3-month contract. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role for an engineer with exceptional depth in Cisco Firepower and Cisco Secure Access who can design, deploy and troubleshoot complex security environments, and communicate clearly and professionally with clients throughout.

What You'll Do

• Design, deploy, configure and optimize Cisco Firepower (FTD/FMC) solutions across customer environments
• Implement and manage Cisco Secure Access, including secure remote access, zero trust access and cloud security policies
• Migrate, upgrade and integrate firewall and security platforms with minimal disruption to customer operations
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex security, connectivity and performance issues
• Work directly with customers to gather requirements, present solutions, lead technical discussions and provide regular project updates
• Produce clear documentation, including designs, configurations, runbooks and handover materials
• Support security and compliance initiatives, including CMMC-related projects where applicable

What You'll Bring

• Exceptional, hands-on depth in Cisco Firepower (FTD, FMC, access control, IPS, NAT, VPN and policy management)
• Strong experience deploying and managing Cisco Secure Access
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with customers in a highly professional and personable way
• Proven experience in customer-facing consulting, professional services or engineering roles
• The ability to work independently and deliver results on project timelines

Preferred

• CCNP Security or higher, such as CCIE Security
• Experience supporting CMMC compliance initiatives
• Familiarity with the wider Cisco security portfolio, such as ISE, Duo, Umbrella and Secure Client
• Experience with NIST 800-171 or other security frameworks
• 3-month initial contract, with the option to extend based on project needs
• $90/hr, depending on experience and certifications
