Apex Systems is seeking a Network Security Engineer for a remote, contract role focused on firewall governance, rule reviews, and remediation in a large banking environment. You will plan and implement enterprise networks, assess performance gaps, and establish secure access parameters across devices and services.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in network security, hands-on experience with major firewall platforms, and strong collaboration with audit/compliance teams to meet remediation

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Network Security with emphasis on firewall governance, operations, and remediation.
• Hands-on experience reviewing firewall rule bases (e.g., Palo Alto, Check Point, Cisco ASA/Firepower, Fortinet).
• Strong understanding of network security controls, firewall policies, and rule lifecycle management.
• Experience supporting audit remediation activities including evidence collection, documentation, issue tracking, and action-item closure.
