Role Description

Working within our MSP division, the Network & Security Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of the organization and our clients’ network infrastructures. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role involves leading the design, implementation, and support of complex network systems. The engineer will proactively safeguard the network from potential threats, address connectivity issues, and ensure optimal performance to support business operations for both Jurrens and our clients.

This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, technical expertise in network architecture, and the ability to manage multiple high-impact projects. The ideal candidate will hold a CCIE certification, have a background in IT or related fields, and possess over five years of hands-on experience managing and securing enterprise-level networks.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve highly advanced complex issues in support of business processing requirements.
• Anticipate and mitigate potential attacks through network or other connections to ensure the security of the system.
• Analyze business requirements to develop technical network solutions and their architecture framework.
• Sustain the necessary data throughput rate by monitoring networking activity and maintaining existing equipment.
• Respond to network connectivity issues and resolve any wireless communication issues.
• Collaborate with third-party support and service vendors.
• Design, configure, and install various network devices and services, from routing, switching, and firewalls, etc.
• Analyze anticipated bandwidth consumption for new clients.
• Set scope and timelines of medium to large scale complex projects.
• Prioritize and manage competing demands and tasks.
• Successfully manage multiple engagements that may require additional resources.
• Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes.
• Complete other tasks/projects as required or by request, under the direction of the CEO

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field
• 5+ years’ experience in managing sophisticated computer networks
• 3+ years’ experience in network architecture and deployment
• 4+ years in an SMB or Enterprise IT environment
• Windows 10 and Windows 11
• SharePoint
• macOS
• Windows Server - Active Directory; File and Print Sharing; DNS, DHCP, Networking
• Computer Networks - Meraki is a plus
• Cloud Systems - Microsoft 365; Microsoft Azure is a plus; Microsoft Azure AD is a plus
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Job Type: Remote, some travel possible
• Salary: From $47.00/hour based on experience
• Schedule: Part time, 25-30 hours/week Monday to Friday
