Network Security Engineer

Location: 5110 Northwest 159th Street, Miami Gardens, FL 33014

Type: Long term hiring contract 3+ years

Work Arrangement: On-Site

We are seeking a highly motivated Network Security Engineer to support and enhance its enterprise security environment. This individual will play a critical role in supporting the organization's Zero Trust security strategy by administering and optimizing secure access technologies, troubleshooting complex connectivity issues, and collaborating with cybersecurity and networking teams to maintain a secure and resilient infrastructure. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who possesses strong experience with Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA), combined with a solid foundation in networking technologies. The environment is fast-paced and highly collaborative, requiring someone who can think critically, troubleshoot independently, and perform effectively during incident and triage situations.

Key Responsibilities

Zscaler Administration & Engineering

• Administer, configure, and support Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) environments.
• Manage security policies, user access controls, authentication methods, and application access configurations.
• Design and implement secure access solutions aligned with Zero Trust security principles.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Zscaler-related connectivity, authentication, and performance issues.
• Support platform enhancements, optimizations, and ongoing operational improvements.

Network Security Operations

• Troubleshoot network security issues involving routing, switching, TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Analyze network traffic and identify root causes of connectivity and application access issues.
• Participate in incident response activities and production triage calls.
• Support infrastructure resiliency, redundancy initiatives, and business continuity planning.
• Work closely with network engineers, cybersecurity teams, and business stakeholders to implement secure solutions.

Operational Support

• Monitor and investigate security-related incidents and service disruptions.
• Provide support during planned maintenance windows and occasional after-hours incidents.
• Assist with security policy management and ongoing platform administration.
• Document solutions, troubleshooting procedures, and operational standards.

Required Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of experience in Network Security, Cybersecurity, or Network Engineering.
• Hands-on experience administering Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA).
• Strong understanding of:
  • TCP/IP
  • DNS
  • Routing and Switching
  • VPN Technologies
  • Firewalls
  • Network Traffic Flow
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience diagnosing authentication, access, and connectivity issues.
• Ability to participate in and contribute to incident management and triage calls.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic enterprise environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with one or more of the following security technologies:

  • Proofpoint
  • Menlo Security
  • DTEX
• Additional experience with:
  • Cloud security technologies
  • Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) platforms
  • Zero Trust networking principles
  • Browser and application troubleshooting tools, including HAR file analysis

Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful candidate combines strong security knowledge with deep networking fundamentals. This individual is comfortable working through complex problems, participating in critical incident calls, and identifying solutions without relying solely on documented procedures. They should be able to answer questions such as: Why is a user unable to authenticate through ZPA? What is causing an application's network traffic disruption? How would internet connectivity be maintained if a data center became unavailable? Where in the network path is a connectivity issue occurring? This role requires someone who enjoys troubleshooting, engineering solutions, and working in a highly operational environment where no two days are the same.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
