Job summary

The Texas Water Company is seeking a Network Operations Architect in Texas to lead enterprise network architecture, design, and troubleshooting. This senior role drives major projects and ensures high availability and security of our infrastructure.

You will mentor the Network Operations team, shape strategic plans, and collaborate with security to mitigate threats. Occasional travel to remote sites and on-call rotation may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 10+ years of experience in network engineering or architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a technical leader and mentor for the Network Operations team.
  • Designs and implements short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure network capacity meets existing and future needs of the business.
  • Designs and implements scalable, secure, and resilient network architectures to meet evolving enterprise demands and ensure operational continuity.
  • Builds strategic network governance through standards, policies, and best practices to drive efficiency and enterprise growth.
  • Acts as technical lead on complex network projects, including data center deployments, cloud connectivity, and disaster recovery.
  • Develops and deploys methodologies for testing network performance, as well as providing network performance reports to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provides Tier III support for escalated enterprise network issues when escalated by the Service Desk.
  • Conducts root cause analysis of critical network outages and implements preventive measures.
  • Creates and maintains documentation relating to network configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Maintains high level of adherence to cybersecurity principles, ethics practices, and company policies.
  • Collaborates with security teams to ensure compliance and threat mitigation.
  • Regularly conducts technical research and evaluates emerging technologies in order to drive innovation in network design.
  • Travels to remote sites as needed to provide on-site support.
  • Required to complete occasional evening and weekend work as part of an on-call rotation schedule to meet deadlines or address emergencies as needed.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or assigned.

This is a senior-level role that serves as a subject matter expert in network architecture, design, and troubleshooting. This individual leads major projects, drives network solutions, and ensures high availability and security of enterprise-wide infrastructure. Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 10+ years of experience in network engineering or architecture.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Holds relevant certifications required for the team’s need or directed by management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and certification in cloud-based systems (AWS and Azure preferred).
  • Expertise in advanced routing, switching, SD-WAN, and network security.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise and data center networking technologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Knowledge of ITIL 4 processes preferred.
