Job summary

CACI is seeking an experienced Network Management Systems Linux Engineer to design, implement, and maintain Linux-based NMS infrastructure in a security-conscious, air-gapped environment. The role emphasizes automation, CI/CD, and collaboration with DevOps and engineering teams.

The ideal candidate has extensive Linux administration experience, plus scripting, configuration management, and monitoring tool proficiency. A TS/SCI with Poly clearance is required, with up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience
• 10+ years of related experience
• TS/SCI with Poly required
• Experience with system monitoring tools
• Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and on-premise virtualization platforms (VMware, libvirt, KVM) and their monitoring tools
• Proficiency in shell scripting and at least one programming language (Python, Bash)
• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of IT security best practices and implementation in Linux environments
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Responsibilities

• Configure and optimize Linux servers for NMS applications (Riverbed, SolarWinds, Network Node Manager)
• Develop and implement automation scripts using Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Terraform
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment and updates (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
• Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to identify automation opportunities
• Ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability of Linux environments for NMS
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, implement improvements (Prometheus, collectd, Grafana, InfluxDB)
• Manage system updates, patches, and security configurations
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues and network-related problems
• Provide support for automation-related incidents and optimize system health
• Develop and maintain documentation for Linux architectures and processes
• Mentor junior engineers on Linux best practices
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies for Linux-based systems
• Participate in capacity planning and resource allocation for infrastructure

The Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced Linux Engineer to join our team with a background in automation to join our dynamic team supporting Network Management Systems (NMS). The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Linux-based systems, ensuring high performance, reliability, and security of our network monitoring and management infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and troubleshoot Linux-based systems (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu, RHEL) in an air gapped environment.

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$131,800 - $290,000
