Network Management Support Professionals
Management Applications, Inc., a leading provider of Networking and Managed IT Services, is seeking experienced IT professionals to support a contract serving Virginia Area Community Colleges. Responsibilities include managing, monitoring, and alerting on edge routers, firewalls, voice gateways, and servers at various VA locations.
Background
The private WAN connects multiple colleges and peers with the Internet via 10 Gigabit connections in Ashburn and Richmond. Most circuits range from 100 Mbps to 300 Mbps, with ongoing upgrades to higher speeds. Future plans include backup circuits for redundancy, using Cisco 1001X routers and Cisco Prime, with WAN services provided by Cox, LUMOS, Comcast, and Verizon.
Required Experience: Network Operations Center or Remote Monitoring, Cisco product experience, and College/University network experience.
Services Managed: Monitoring and alerts, Remote Management, Full Remote Management.
Monitoring is 24/7/365, utilizing TeamDynamix for ticketing and documentation.
Maintenance: Scheduled during late night or early morning hours, with at least 10 business days' notice for non-emergency work, approved by campus CIO or designee.
Monitoring Systems: Traverse and Cacti are used; configurations should allow automation of alarms and notifications for all edge devices.
Backup Services: Responsible for backing up network equipment and providing files to the Director of Enterprise Services.
Change and Release Management: Follow established processes, keeping stakeholders informed.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred; AS or AAS considered with relevant experience. Certifications such as Cisco, CompTIA, or similar are advantageous.
