What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct in-depth interviews using a semi-structured format and client-centered approach
- Assist local health jurisdictions in timely investigations to prevent and diagnose new HIV transmissions
- Coordinate and implement project-specific activities aimed at enhancing HIV cluster intervention outcomes
- Disseminate disease intervention mandates and guidelines to local health officials and program staff
- Collaborate with state and local public health departments and the CDC on intervention strategies
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of five years of experience in public health
- At least two years of experience as a Disease Intervention Specialist in HIV, mpox, or STIs
- Experience with medical interviewing, case investigation, or contact tracing
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Experience in HIV or STI prevention
- Familiarity with public health data systems such as eHARS, CalREDIE, or CalConnect
- Ability to conduct interviews in Spanish
- Experience working with populations disproportionately impacted by HIV and STIs
