Job summary

TransFICC Limited is hiring a Network Infrastructure Engineer to deliver high-performance, low-latency connectivity and automation. You will contribute to our SRE-driven hosted service, shaping reliability and scalability across our network stack.

Based in a Remote First setup with an office in London and flexible remote locations within UK/Europe, you will collaborate with vendors, data centers, and customers to optimize routing, latency, and observability.

Qualifications

• Basic programming ability to build small programs.
• Experience with automation tools and scripting.
• Background as a sys admin or network engineer with routing/data centres.
• Vendor management experience via email/phone and procurement.
• Familiar with low-latency networking: TCP/IP, multicast, WAN.
• Experience with BGP/EVPN routing protocols.
• Knowledge of Linux administration and CLI usage.
• Observability stack: Elastic/InfluxDB/Telegraf/Grafana.

Research, design, deploy, and support new and existing networks, including network hardware vendors, routing/switching, low-latency technologies, telco circuits, and data centre connectivity. Network as Code: Develop new features, new automation and observability, and push to network new configurations and features to support our business. Ansible, Terraform. Need to know how to code. You don’t need to be an expert, but basic programming in your language of choice is required - you need to be able to build a program. Everything we configure at TransFICC is automated, so having experience with a software automation tool like Ansible and coding ability is a must. We are looking for someone experienced as a sys admin or network engineer; however, you must have a reasonable understanding of both. Constructive, open-minded and self-motivated. A belief in life learning, and an awareness of how much there still is to learn. Appreciate autonomy and be able to take the initiative. Experience managing 3rd parties via email and phone, negotiating with vendors, purchasing hardware and enabling remote work. Experience in low-latency network technologies: TCP/IP, Multicast (IGMP, PIM), L2/L3, and WAN. Experience in deploying and supporting routing protocols such as BGP, EVPN. Experience with Arista or Cumulus Linux. Understanding of Firewall technologies, design, and vendors; and how to automate them. Coding experience with Python and Bash scripting to automate tasks. Knowledge of Ansible and Terraform to automate configuration deployment. Experience with Linux, both from an admin point of view and on the command line. Experience in writing tests in Robot Framework. Well versed in observability and alerting stacks: Elastic, InfluxDB, Telegraf, Grafana Experience in troubleshooting system or network issues, tcpdump, wireshark, strace.
