Google LLC in Council Bluffs, IA, is seeking a Network Implementation Engineer for Network Delivery Implementation. You will drive deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide, coordinating with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, and field teams to ensure reliable, scalable connectivity.

You will define implementation plans, lead installation quality efforts, and collaborate with vendors and internal teams to meet project timelines across data centers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Network or Telecom Engineering or related field.
• 3 years of experience in carrier-class environments with Layer 1 infrastructure experience.
• Experience interpreting deployment packages and verifying design accuracy with engineering partners.

Responsibilities

• Oversee QA of installation technicians for rack, stack and network equipment.
• Commission and test routers, optical transport equipment, and other devices in Google's network nodes.
• Develop implementation plans and provide technical leadership during deployments.
• Identify potential problems in network installations with PMs and engineers to meet timelines.
• Maintain network documentation and drawings.

• Bachelor's degree in Network or Telecom Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of experience in carrier-class environments, with technical experience in both Layer 1 physical infrastructure (DWDM, AC/DC power, OSP/ISP).
• Experience interpreting and validating deployment packages (including orders and construction specs) to verify design accuracy and escalating discrepancies to engineering partners before installation.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Layer 1 optical transmissions systems, layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations.
• Experience identifying recurring errors in deployment packages or specifications and driving feedback loops to improve design accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Familiarity with network automation tools, scripting, or SQL to query databases and track deployment consistency. Basic Linux experience (ie run commands, move directories).
• Proven ability to lead technical projects and troubleshoot complex field deployments alongside data center technicians and third party vendors, ensuring installation quality and resolving on-site technical blockers to meet timelines

You will work with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, Field Engineers within Google, as well as construction and telecommunications vendors and contractors, all to position your team and organization for success.

As a part of the Network Delivery Implementation team, you will build and operate the future of Google's global network, connecting billions of users to our expanding services and enabling the world's imagination with dependable, universal connectivity. You will own the full network life-cycle in our data centers and metro points of presence, driving continuous reliability, efficiency, and rapid service activation to meet the ever-growing demands of a connected world, with the goal to make connectivity ubiquitous between every machine and every user on the Internet.

You will be a key contributor as a member of the Global Network Delivery team, directly impacting Google's ability to deliver network capacity to its customers. The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life-cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $126000 - $180000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

• Oversee QA of installation technicians for rack, stack and installation of networking equipment.
• Commission and test routers, optical transport equipment, and other network devices in new and existing network nodes across Google's global network.
• Develop implementation plans and provide technical leadership and guidance during deployment activities.
• Work closely with project management, network engineering and rest of the engineering team to identify in advance potential problems in network installations, including in the areas of facility power (AC/DC), cooling, security/access, rack layout and cable management.
• Maintain network documentation, updating and maintaining network drawings and plans.
